Types of food for a wolfdog

The never ending topic - how to feed a dog. Most people think, that they just go to the store and buy the cheapest granulated food and the dog is happy. Or they think, the best granulated food is, which is has the best commercial. Big mistake. Dog nutrition is a small science, but just give it a moment of your time and learn what is best for the dog. The puppy grow, thanks to your efforts, to a healthy dog, full of energy, with beautiful coat.

What kinds of food are suitable for a dog?

What you want to feed the dog is one thing, but ultimately decides the dog, which will eat and what not. Whether this would occur by refusing food or medical problems, where the latter is worse.

For dogs, there are many kinds of food. You find here something written about all, plus and minus, and it is up to you, how you choose. Personally, I prefer to feed raw food, sometimes cooked, side dishes and vegetables. I will not convince anyone, everyone chooses the path of his statement.

Food allergies are very common nowadays. Frequently we meet with dogs fed granular and canned food. Dogs can be allergic to protein, so meat (some kinds). Frequently the chicken. Trespassing mainly by young dogs, but can occur at any age. Allergy is manifested excessive scratching, vomiting, skin rash, redness of skin, bad hair, festering rashes, ... Alergic reaction may influence the growth of the claws - irregular growth, crooked growth...

If you know the allergen, the feeding of raw food is easier, simply skip a given food. Barf has the advantage, that you know every single ingredient of food. If you do not know the allergen and are not sure, it's for a very long time. Try to skip the main possible allergens, such as meat kind, rice, pasta, eggs, dairy products, type of fruit or vegetables for a period of 2 - 3 weeks. The incidence of allergy to more than two food is exceptional. If you discover an allergen, gradually add other foods, but in time period and in such a way, to determine if any other allergens occur. At least allergy occurs by turkey, lamb, ...

When feeding granulated food composition must be chosen very carefully, from the hypoallergenic feeds, more exotic types of proteins in combination with potatoes.

Feed is divided into

I. Homemade feed - raw food

II. Homemade feed - cooked food

III. Industrially produced feed

a) Wet feed - containing 70 to 85% water, canned food

b) Semi-moist feed - Similar to cans contain 25 to 60% water

c) Dry food - less than 14% water, so granules

Dry food is divided into:

maintenance and standard - with a normal energy for adult dogs for normal life

very hard working dogs, nursing females and pregnant females - are rich on energy and nutrient-rich

 low-calorie diets - are specially adapted for obese dogs - light version or allergic, also known as holistic feed, are also provided for various diseases. It is good to consult your veterinarian.
